Arranging a Funeral

Losing a family member or friend is often a very difficult time and it can be overwhelming and difficult having to arrange a funeral in this time of grief. Our funeral service will provide the level of care and support needed for you to make informed decisions that are the correct ones for your personal, emotional, financial, and spiritual situation.

How We Can Help

We take care of all aspects of the funeral service from the crafting of the memorial arrangement to the service itself. We are Buller’s only registered and qualified funeral director and understand the difficulties that come with losing a loved one. We'll guide you through everything step by step and do all we can to ease the natural difficulties that come at a time like this.

We are members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ) ensuring that you receive the highest degree of service and professionalism.

We also offer options if you'd like to pre-arrange and/or pay for your funeral ahead of time to take the stress away from your family.

What We Offer

  • A deeply personal decision, your loved one may have already shared whether they preferred burial or cremation. Choosing burial provides a dedicated place where you can visit and honour them with a lasting memorial. If you opt for cremation, you’ll need to consider where their ashes will be laid to rest.

We are here to talk through the options and help you find what feels right for you and your family.

  • Choosing a celebrant is an important part of creating a meaningful farewell, as they help shape the tone and personalise the service to reflect your loved one’s life and values. You may already have someone in mind, or you’re welcome to use our registered celebrant, who can guide you through the process and support you in creating a thoughtful and fitting tribute.

  • The memorial of a loved one is essentially a lasting symbol of that person, and needs to reflect what they meant to those close to them. We cover all monumental requirements including new, renovations, additional design and installation.

  • The loss of a loved one affects us all in different ways. After the service has been held and all the well wishers have gone the real mourning begins. There is no right or wrong way to mourn and grieve but the process can be challenging and difficult to understand. If you feel you need extra support at this time, speak with us about how we can help you navigate these difficult waters.

Next Steps

If someone close to you has died, there are a few practical steps to take and decisions to think about. Try to be gentle with yourself during this time - there’s no rush.

Our Funeral directors will guide you through everything that needs to be done and fully support you along the way. Please do not hesitate to contact us as soon as the need arises.

An important thing to consider is what will be recorded on your loved ones death certificate. Do you know their mother's maiden name and what their father did for a living? A death certificate is a historical document and helps families trace their history. To make sure your family history will be accurately recorded we have all the required information available here. You can bring a copy with you when you meet with your funeral director.
