In 1897, FW Hagedorn & Sons, Cabinet-makers of Westport began making coffins for the local community. So beautifully made were these coffins that the community urged Hagedorn to apply his care and craftmanship to funeral directing and thus FW Hagedorn Funeral Services was born.
While the business hasn't stayed in the Hagedorn family it has remained a locally owned and family run business.
